Add your own rewards, and decide how soon rewards come
For a parent who wants the store to look like their family, not ours.
Your own rewards
- Open the grown-up area and scroll below your kids to "Family rewards".
- Type a name, an optional emoji and a price in stars, then "Add reward". The optional one-liner under the form holds conditions, like "Saturday afternoons only".
- Tap "Edit" to change it later, or "Remove" to take it out of the store.
In the store they appear under "From your family", with no level gate. Your child taps "Request", it lands in your "Reward requests" like any other, and you approve it and "Mark done" when it's happened. Declining refunds the stars.
For a sense of scale, a full day of schoolwork earns about 350 stars. A 2,000-star reward is about a week of full days.
Changing the built-in coupons
The panel called "Store settings" lists every real-life coupon we ship with its price. Type a different price in the box next to it, or leave the box blank to keep ours. Tick "Hidden" and that coupon disappears from the store for every child in the house.
How soon rewards come
Normally real-life rewards unlock at Scout, which most kids reach around day four. Tick "Open real-life rewards from day one" and they're available from the first session. Lower prices make things come sooner too. Chore stars add up on top of schoolwork stars.
What you can't change is what schoolwork pays. That number sets the star levels and the plaque, and it's the same for every family on purpose.
Common questions
Can I make a reward that costs less than 50 stars?
No. 50 is the floor, and 100,000 the ceiling. Under 50 a reward would cost less than one question, which stops meaning anything.
I hid a coupon my child had already requested. What happens?
The request stays exactly where it was. Approve it or decline it as usual. Hiding only changes what can be requested from now on.
Do the built-in coupons ever get mailed?
No. Every real-life reward, ours or yours, is something you deliver at home. The only thing we mail is the 150-day plaque.
Still stuck?
Email goes straight to a person, usually answered within a couple of days. Include the email you signed up with so we can find your account.
